Thuja is a coniferous tree indigenous to the western foothills of the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. It is Latin for "tree of life" - due to the supposed medicinal properties of the sap and bark. Thuja trees give off an aromatic odour for protection from parasites. Chosen for many reasons - its organic connotations, the tree of life symbolism, and the fact that it produces a beautiful burr, which Chris as a furniture designer loves.
